East Harling 2-1 Hempnall
The first team entertained 4th from bottom Hempnall looking to record back to back wins on a sun soaked day at Church Road.
A win would complete the league double over the visitors having beaten them 0-2 in the reverse fixture back in August.
Unfortunately for the hosts Tarft was ruled out of the fixture hours before kick off but were able to give a recall to Barnett who had been sidelined for several weeks.
Elsewhere Suggitt was moved back into the starting line-up and central defender Williamson made his first start for the first team in over three years.
The hosts got off to a good start with some slick passing keeping the visitors on the run and after one move a sublime Morris pass found the run of ‘pumba’ Bareham but the big number 9 could only graze the post when through on goal.
However it was the visiting team that took a shock lead when a miscontrolled pass in the Greens midfield saw the ball end up at the strikers feet who smashed the ball past Woodcock from 30 yards with their first shot of the game.
Hobley then saw his cross come shot float narrowly over whilst skipper Durrant headed a Scent delivery straight at the away keeper.
Moments later the away side were down to 10 men, the central defender finding Senior’s pace to hot to handle and bought the winger down just outside the box when he was in the clear.
Morris stepped up and drilled straight at the wall whilst Turner-Saint saw an effort well stopped.
The second half was much the same with the visitors dropping very deep and trying so hard to take a surprising three points, which to their credit they very nearly did.
A change was made soon into the second half with Johnson replacing Hobley.
Scent then came on in place of Turner-Saint.
The home side were now camped in the visiting half but finding it difficult to create a clear cut chance against a determined and deep back four.
Penalty shouts were then waived away twice with Bareham and then Johnson believing they should have had penalties for fouls in the box.
Williamson then saw an effort on goal well blocked before Bareham saw a header parried away to safety by the keeper as the clock ticked down.
Barnett then made his comeback in place of Morris.
They did finally score an equaliser in the 78th through an unlikely source. A strike on goal deflected perfectly into the stride of Scent to tuck home his 3rd goal of the season.
It was to get even better for the home side as a Johnson hook to the back post found the head of Bareham to score his 7th of the season and send the spectators into raptures.
Overall a good win for the greens as they now enter into back to back games with the league leaders Hoveton Wherryman.
Goals from the superb Malcolm Blades will be on this page tomorrow!!!
Well done lads.
