East Harling 2-3 Dereham Town Reserves
The first team kicked off their pre season on a hot evening at Church Road against the youthful Thurlow Nunn side.
The home side were able to field many new faces and started brightly but Goulding’s smart turn was brilliantly blocked by a last ditch tackle.
Olpin and Savage began to link up superbly down the left hand side and Savage drew a smart stop from the keeper.
Twenty minutes in and the away side had the lead in bizarre fashion. As Harling were making a substitution and many thought play had stopped the striker found space to drill past Woodcock for 0-1.
Harling were back at it and Goulding bought a great save from the visiting keeper before they did have the ball in the net. A superb through ball from 16 year old Ollie Tarft found Johnson who coolly lobbed the advancing keeper.
The home side grew in confidence and Waite in midfield was making an impressive debut in winning his tackles and also seeing a 20 yard strike fly inches wide.
It was the away side who once again took the lead when the pacey winger beat three men and fired low past Woodcock.
The second half started much the same but Woodcock was unable to keep the ball out for a third time despite seeing two efforts saved as the away side went further ahead.
The greens still kept going and Conroy was proving a handful with his hold up play. He was then fouled for a penalty but Foster saw his spot kick easily saved.
Johnson was again causing havoc down the right and when his cross was bundled through Goulding was on hand to roll the ball in from close range.
The hosts kept looking for an equaliser but Conroy saw a shot fly wide and then Johnsons strike was excellently saved before Goulding headed the ball over from close range.
An excellent first workout for the lads as we head closer to the season opener.
