East Harling 3-0 Acle Utd Res
The first team entertained fellow early season strugglers Acle Utd Res looking to secure a big 3 points in their first home game of the new season.
With no fewer than 10 first team players unavailable for various reasons there were opportunities to shine for reserve team duo White and Smith plus a first appearance in the first team in four years for club stalwart Peter Blades.
The home side got off to the perfect start when a cross in to the box was not dealt with and Morris side footed home from 9 yards out.
Superb play between Smith and White saw Smith shoot tamely straight at the keeper whilst Hobley then saw his one on one effort well saved.
The greens were in rampant mood after this and Chrystall controlled well before blazing over, Durrant saw a header brilliantly saved and a Chrystall header was excellently cleared off the line.
The home side were then forced into a change when White had to be replaced by Warren Williams making his 1st appearance in a year.
The visitors then managed to get a foot hold in the game but in truth never threatened make shift keeper Barnett in the home goal.
Half time saw a big change with Blades replacing Barnett in goal with the latter taking up his usual spot in midfield alongside Dolan and Morris.
The half started and finished with the home side firmly in the driving seat.
First a Holland strike stung the fingertips of the visiting keeper and Barnett prodded wide from close range.
The lead was finally doubled when Bray raced onto a perfectly weighted through ball to round the keeper and pass in from a tight angle.
The home side begun to break with real regularity now but the final ball was at times questionable.
Dolan fired wide and Chrystall struck the side netting before Bray finally added the 3rd by racing onto another through ball and powerfully blasting past the keeper at his near post.
Smith then scored a beautiful volley which was ruled our for offside before Chrystall somehow missed from 6 yards out after superb work by Bray.
A great three points and special mentions to Barnett and Blades for helping in goal and the back four of Holland, Bareham, Durrant and Hobley who stayed so solid throughout, giving us a strong platform to build on.
Onto the next lads. …..
