East Harling 3-0 Caister Res …

East Harling 3-0 Caister Res
The first team entertained fellow division 2 rivals Caister Res on Saturday looking to progress last 16 of the Norfolk Junior Cup.to the
Team news ahead of the game saw Woodcock take his place in the home goal whilst there was a return for Tarft in place of Bareham.
The game got off to a nervy start for the hosts and they were glad to see a Caister forward fire over when in a bit of space.
They then created their first chance of the game as an Allin ball found Webb on the charge but the powerful striker saw his effort go just wide of the far post.
Senior then found himself through on goal but saw his attempted finish well blocked by the keeper as the scores remained level.
Woodcock was then called into action as he tipped a long range strike superbly onto the post at full stretch to keep his side on level terms.
A Tarft ball then narrowly missed the head of Webb and a Morris strike fizzed just over from the edge of the box as the ref called time on a tepid first half.
After some stern half time words the home side came out a completely different side and were to spend the entire half camped in the visitors end.
They got off to the best possible start when Webb was fouled in the area and picked himself up to slot the penalty under the keeper for a 1-0 advantage.
Moments later the lead was doubled when Webb charged through the visiting defence to send an accurate cross to the back post which was brilliantly executed by the head of Tarft for his 1st goal since his return from Wroxham.
Webb then saw two efforts bravely blocked in a goalmouth scramble before Bray broke clear but fired wide.
Senior beat his man and shot wide whilst Bray again blazed his half volley well over from 12 yards out.
Watling then replaced Hobley at left back.
Then came a passage of play where the home side were content to move the ball around and keep possession without ever looking for a killer ball as the time ticked away from the away team.
Webb was then replaced by Bareham.
The final goal came minutes from time as a Tarft free kick was well saved but the resulting Tarft corner was headed in at the near post by skipper Durrant to complete the scoring and send the greens into the last 16.
So a much improved second half by the hosts see them safely through but still plenty of room for improvement as we head into a huge local derby with a well placed Thetford Rovers side at Euston park next week.
Well done all…..
