East Harling res 1-6 Gt Yarmouth res
The reserves took on a very strong and unbeaten Yarmouth res at church road. With the squad missing key players to the 1st team and various other reasons four ex players came into the the squad to help out. The game started well for Harling with the midfield 3 closing down and wining the ball at every opportunity which was frustrating the away side as they struggled to find their tempo. A corner which was delivered with pace to the back post was narrowly missed by the returning Phil King. Midway through the first half another back post corner delivered by new signing Suggitt found Phil King who powered home the header to put Harling into the lead. Despite constant pressure the back four of Harling stood firm and limited Yarmouth to mainly long shots as the first half came to an end. A rallying half time talk followed with everyone knowing we were 45mins from an upset. The second half started and Harling created a couple of chances with Ben Chase having one cleared off the line. Yarmouth were now turning the screw and with Harling’s players starting to tire after a hard first 45mins, the equaliser soon came near the hour mark, this was followed by a very quick penalty decision which Yarmouth converted to make it 1-2. Unfortunately from then on it was all Yarmouth, their superior fitness shone through and they finished the game in style scoring 6 goals in the last 30mins. All in all a disappointing result after being in the lead for a large part of the game. We pick ourselves up and go to their ground this Saturday looking for a better result.
