East Harling Reserves 2-1 Scole United Reserves
The reserves entertained Scole Res looking to improve on last weeks performance and get our first points of the season. A changed side due to first team call ups and work commitments meant starting places for 5 new players and a debut for centre back Ryan Laws on the right wing! The game started well with Harling controlling possession of the ball nicely with the midfield pairing of Cusack and Verrell moving the ball around confidently. Then a scrappy 5 minute period led to a Scole player bundling his way past 2 Harling players and hitting a hopeful long shot which took a nasty deflection and looped over the unfortunate Ben Harrison in goal, 0-1. Harling responded immediately with the impressive Ollie Verrell driving forward from midfield beating 2 players before hitting a low left shot from outside the box to make it 1-1. From then on Harling dominated the first half and it wasn’t long before the tireless Warren Williams latched onto a long Ben Harrison kick to outpace his marker a neatly slot home his first of the season to make it 2-1. The second half continued much the same with plenty of Harling pressure with Daniel Cusack pulling the strings in midfield chances were coming thick and fast but Harling were unable to find the net. Williams then broke into the box only to be crudely brought down by a Scole defender, the ball fell to debutant Sam Read who slammed it home but strangely the ref blew for a pen instead which Williams took but a good save from the keeper kept it at 2-1. Despite lots of pressure and numerous chances the score score stayed at 2-1 and Harling took their first points of the season. A good performance all round giving us something to build on this week away to Newton Flotman.
