Fakenham Town Res 0-1 East Harling …

Fakenham Town Res 0-1 East Harling
The first team made another long journey on Saturday, this time to Clipbush Park to take on 2nd placed Fakenham Town Reserves.
A few changes were made to the side following last week’s local derby defeat with Watling replacing Hobley, Laws back in for Bareham and Dunkinson started in place of the injured Scent alongside Morris and Dolan.
There was also a place on the bench for debutant O’Herlihy.
The game got off to a quick start and Dolan was unfortunate to see his well placed effort go wide after only 6 minutes.
Tarft then drove powerfully wide from 20 yards out and Webb was unlucky to head a Senior cross just over.
The home side begun to come into the game around the 20th minute and Woodcock had to be at his best to keep out a stinging effort with his legs from close range.
Minutes later Woodcock palmed a side footed finish safely over the bar and up the other end Webb again caused havoc from a set piece but headed over once more.
The goal was to come shortly after when Senior played a perfectly weighted ball into the channel for Webb who easily rolled his marker to send a 40 yard pass into the path of Tarft to control and fire the away side into the lead approaching half time.
The second half kicked off and Senior seized on a loose ball to glide past 3 players but was just tackled as he tried to play into Webb who was wide open at the back post.
From the resulting corner Durrant headed powerfully into the keeper’s hands whilst up the other end, Laws had to make a superb tackle to keep the away side in the lead.
The home side were now working the greens midfield hard as people begun to tire after giving 100% to the cause.
Senior was replaced by O’Herlihy on the left side and left the pitch to great applause after a superb performance.
Dunkinson was then replaced by Bray.
A last ditch tackle from Watling and some safe hands from woodcock to hold a long distance strike kept the lead in tact.
Slightly against the run of play the visitors nearly doubled the lead when a Tarft corner was blocked, Durrant reacted quickest to fire at goal but was denied by a magnificent save at point blank range.
Bareham then replaced Webb who had run himself into the ground for the team.
The clock ticked down to the final whistle and a superb performance to gain a result was complete.
A fantastic display to gain a 5th clean sheet in 6 league games, in which every single squad member deserves so much praise. The perfect way to bounce back after a dissapointing defeat the previous week.
Special mention to the three substitutes who showed great attitudes and continued to support their team mates from the dugouts.
Well done everyone…..
