UEA 1-0 East Harling …

UEA 1-0 East Harling
The first team travelled to the in form university side looking to avenge the defeat suffered at Church Road only a few weeks back.
There was a rare start at centre back for Ryan Laws in place of the suspended captain Durrant.
Tarft, Suggitt and Wetteland were all welcomed back into the squad and there was also a debut in the squad for young defender Todd Hutcherson following him joining from Thetford Town a couple of weeks ago.
The game got off to a quick start with the home side camped in the visitors half with every player having to work so hard to keep the scores level.
20 minutes in and the away side came closest to finding the lead, a superb Allin cross only just missing Senior and Holt at the back post.
Burgess then picked up a slight injury and had to be replaced by Suggitt in the defence.
The home side then hit straight back with a half volley stinging the palms of keeper Woodcock at point blank range.
Then a huge turning point as big penalty appeals were turned away when Barnett was clipped in the box.
The second half begun with the away side putting even more urgency into their game.
After a great Johnson run was halted by a foul, Tarft saw his free kick blocked by the wall.
Holt was then replaced by Wetteland.
Slightly against the run of play for the second half, Woodcock was then called into action by acrobatically tipping a long range strike wide of the post.
Several minutes later Tarft and Wetteland combined well down the right to spring a quick attack which was denied superbly by a last ditch tackle just as the young midfielder looked odds on to score.
Barnett then limped off with a reoccurrence of his knee injury which the club hope is not as bad as first feared as he was replaced by Hutcherson.
With the clock ticking down and the game looking destined to finish goalless the away side were stunned as the dangerous home forward showed superb skill to go round two players and fire an unstoppable shot into the top corner from 30 yards.
Holt was then bought back on in place of Laws as the visitors looking to go ultra attacking in a desperate attempt to find an equaliser.
They almost found it when Johnson put his header into the path of Wetteland who saw his half volley well blocked before Scent dragged his effort wide from 6 yards.
One more throw of the dice came from a Scent free kick just into the home sides half.
His set piece went into a crowded penalty area which fell to Tarft 8 yards out which was fired over the bar with the very last kick of the game.
So in all a very pleasing performance from the side who gave everything they had to beat the strong UEA side but lost to an unbelievable strike worthy of winning any game.
We now move on to a home game against a struggling Sprowston Athletic side.
Hard luck greens!
